Kansas City Star, December 12, 1886. Mince pie, as we’ve seen, was known to cause bad dreams, but in particularly susceptible folk it seems to have induced clairvoyant hallucinations as well.
Home made demon pie–mmmmm.
Well there was a little girl with a spritely sense of humor. The deadly upas tree, I have just learned, is a tropical hardwood whose toxic sap can be used for making poisoned arrowheads. A little dab’ll do ya, apparently.

Ah, the upas tree of Java–so deadly that sleeping under it will KILL YOU!!!!!
The Mince-Pie Maniacs would be a great name for a band.
I must cavil, however, at “homemade demon pie.” Surely we can all agree that brain-stealing pastry is most accurately denominated “homemade zombie pie”?
Good point.
I went to see Zombieland last night, by the by. Pretty funny show.

I volunteer to sing. Does anybody here play any instruments?
I sometimes pluck the blades of my pasty-cutter like it’s a kalimba.
