San Francisco Chronicle, December 20, 1892. I see this as an urban precursor to “You kids stay off my lawn!” It also exemplifies the mass acid attack, of which we’ll be seeing more.

Uhh , regarding the news that , despite the absence of severe
injury ,”no good intention” was attributed to the acid thrower:
was it typical to assume some form of chivalry was at play in
the acid-chucker’s mind?Perhaps he was expected to leave the tumbler at the scene , labelled as to it’s contents and molarity?
1) Molarity! What a beautiful word:
Noun 1. molarity – concentration measured by the number of moles of solute per liter of solution
molar concentration, M
concentration – the strength of a solution; number of molecules of a substance in a given volume
2)”was it typical to assume some form of chivalry was at play in
the acid-chucker’s mind?”
Well, as we’ve seen, there are precedents for the benignly-intended acid toss, e.g.:

and

Well I hope to see it in a headline soon. Some variation , anyway ; y’got yer moles , molar , molarity , millimoles ,yer what-have-yous.
