Detroit News, July 25, 1931. We were wondering, in a previous post, where the tabs got hold of their glamour shots of scandal-plagued young women. The caption above yields a clew: Some times they just asked the subject to pose. This gal fell into a classic jackpot much beloved of screenwriters: she accidentally witnessed a gangland slaying. Sounds very unlucky, but the odds of witnessing such thing increase when you stayed at louche joint like the La Salle Hotel, which had wiseguys the way a mission flophouse has bedbugs.
